James E. Landau, CFA

Mr. Landau has 32 years experience managing institutional portfolios and analyzing securities. Jim is Chief Investment Officer of Berkeley and builds the economic framework used by the firm in developing its investment strategies, as well as leading its Dividend Equity portfolios. Jim was CEO of Berkeley Capital Management from 2001 to January 2005.
For many years, Jim was Director of Research for Berkeley’s predecessor organization, BankAmerica’s institutional investment management group. Prior to joining Berkeley’s predecessor in 1975, Jim was with American Express Investment Management Company. From 1966 to 1968 he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army.
A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Jim holds an MBA from Harvard University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and served as President of The Security Analysts of San Francisco in 1992-1993. Jim served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and Treasurer of the San Francisco Art Institute and for over a decade served as a member of the Investment Committee of the Giannini Foundation in San Francisco, which provides grants for medical research. Jim is a member of the Regional Cabinet of Washington University and serves on the boards of several community organizations.
