Carl L. Goldsmith, CIO, Delta E-mail Carl Goldsmith
Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer
27 years of investment experience
Mr. Goldsmith is a Managing Director and the Chief Investment Officer for the Delta division of Berkeley. Carl has 27 years of investment experience managing institutional portfolios and analyzing securities. It is this lifelong interest in all aspects of financial markets, which gives Carl his extraordinary knowledge basis for decision-making. In his role as Chief Investment Officer, Carl’s analysis of the macroeconomic environment sets up the framework for how Delta’s Core Equity portfolio will be structured from a sector standpoint. Carl’s in depth coverage of the large capitalization stock universe over the past two decades provides the foundation for stock selection within the Core portfolio.
Prior to joining Berkeley Capital Management LLC, Carl was a founder and Chief Investment Officer of Delta Asset Management. Delta was formed in 1991 as part of Furman Selz Capital Management, which was in turn acquired by ING Group in 1997. Prior to 1991, Carl was the Senior Equity Portfolio Manager for Security Pacific Investment Managers, which he joined in 1979. An interesting point about Carl is that he has been managing money for the majority of his current institutional clients since his early days at Security Pacific, a testimony to his success and skill as a money manager.
Carl is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a BA in Economics. He also holds an MBA from the University of California Graduate School of Management.
