Jim
has 29 years experience managing institutional portfolios
and analyzing securities. He is President of Berkeley
and builds the economic framework used by the firm in
developing its investment strategies, as well as leading
its Income Equity portfolios.
For
many years, Jim was Director of Research for Berkeley’s
predecessor organization, BankAmerica’s institutional
investment management group. Prior to joining Berkeley’s
predecessor in 1975, Jim was with American Express Investment
Management Company. From 1966 to 1968 he served as a
Lieutenant in the United States Army.
A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Jim
holds an MBA from Harvard University. He is a Chartered
Financial Analyst and served as President of The Security
Analysts of San Francisco in 1992-1993. Jim served as
Chairman of the Finance Committee and Treasurer of the
San Francisco Art Institute and for over a decade served
as a member of the Investment Committee of the Giannini
Foundation in San Francisco, which provides grants for
medical research. Jim is a member of the Regional Cabinet
of Washington University and serves on the boards of
several community organizations.

Rudi
has more than 30 years of experience analyzing securities
and managing institutional portfolios. He is a Managing
Director and Chairman of the firm’s Investment Policy
Committee which in developing a consensus among the
firm’s managers provides strategies for fixed income,
equity, and balanced portfolios. He also leads the firm’s
equity management of portfolios in a large cap growth
style. Prior to joining Berkeley’s predecessor organization,
Bank of America’s institutional investment management
group in 1975, Rudi was with Amax, Inc., as an associate
managing the firm’s pension assets. He began his investment
career as a securities analyst with Goldman, Sachs &
Company.
Prior
to his investment career, Rudi served in the U.S. Army,
in various command and staff assignments.
Rudi
is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the
Security Analysts Society of San Francisco. He is a
graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point
and holds an MBA with distinction from the Wharton Graduate
School at the University of Pennsylvania.
